Deleting your data from WAdesk

You can delete your account or a workspace yourself, at any time, from inside WAdesk. This page explains how, what is removed, and how to check a deletion request made through Facebook.

Check a deletion request

Enter the confirmation code Facebook showed you after you asked for your data to be deleted.

Delete your account

  1. Sign in to WAdesk and open Settings → Data.
  2. Choose Delete my account and type your email address to confirm.

This removes, straight away:

  • your sign-in (email address and password), and your name and email on every team you were part of;
  • the phones registered for your notifications;
  • every workspace you are the only owner of, with everything in it (see below) — WAdesk lists them before you confirm, because they are deleted for everyone in them.

Workspaces you were only a member of stay with their owners; you are simply removed from them.

Delete a workspace

The workspace's owner can open Settings → Workspace → Delete workspace and type the workspace's name to confirm. Everything in it is deleted:

  • contacts, their tags, custom fields, notes and consent history;
  • conversations and messages, and uploaded images, videos and documents;
  • message templates, campaigns and their recipient lists, segments, quick replies and automations;
  • the WhatsApp connection: the number is disconnected from WAdesk and its encrypted access token is deleted;
  • the subscription, which is cancelled so you are not charged again.

Want a copy first? Settings → Data → Export all contacts downloads a CSV. Deleted data can't be restored; backups kept by our database host expire on their regular schedule.

If you connected WhatsApp through Facebook

WAdesk doesn't store your Facebook profile, friends or posts. When a workspace connects WhatsApp, Meta gives that workspace a business integration token for its WhatsApp Business Account. We keep it encrypted, per workspace, and delete it when the workspace disconnects WhatsApp or is deleted.

To remove WAdesk's access on Facebook:

  1. On Facebook, open Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations.
  2. Select WAdesk and choose Remove. You can also ask for the data WAdesk received to be deleted.

A business can also remove the connection in Meta Business Settings, under Integrations → Connected apps. When you ask Facebook to delete your data, Meta sends us the request and shows you a confirmation code — check its status above. Because nothing in WAdesk is tied to a Facebook profile, these requests are completed immediately; to remove a workspace's WhatsApp data as well, delete the workspace as described above.

If a business messaged you through WAdesk

The contacts and chats in a workspace belong to the business using it. To have your number and messages removed, contact that business directly. You can always reply STOP to stop their marketing messages.
